Indiana's best visits IU
The top-rated high school football player in Indiana is taking a late look at Indiana University's program.
Warren Central senior safety Jerimy Finch, who in June gave Michigan a verbal commitment, is taking an official recruiting visit to Indiana this weekend.
The 6-foot-1, 203-pound Finch is the No. 1 in-state player in the high school class of 2007, according to Scout.com. If Finch decides to sign with the Hoosiers during the official signing period in early February, he would be the highest rated player to sign with IU in close to a decade.
COLLEGE FOOTBALL
Samardzija honored
Notre Dame senior wide receiver Jeff Samardzija has been named to the 2006 NCAA Consensus All-America Football Team announced Friday.
Jeff Samardzija is one of three wide receivers to make the 29-player team. Jeff Samardzija led Notre Dame for the second-straight season in receptions (78) and yards (1,017) and added 12 touchdown catches.
He became the first Irish player to post multiple seasons of at least 1,000 yards receiving and was one of three finalists for the Biletnikoff Award, given annually to the top college football receiver. He leaves Notre Dame the school's all-time leader in receptions (179), receiving yards (2,593) and touchdown receptions (27).
