Casey McGehee's two seventh-inning errors helped Albuquerque score nine runs in the Iowa Cubs' 14-8 Pacific Coast League loss Monday.
The Cubs are 60-40 heading into the All-Star break, good for first place in the American North Division by five games over Memphis.
Iowa led 3-2 before the Isotopes sent 12 batters to the plate in the seventh.
Acting manager Von Joshua said giving the Isotopes the extra outs made the difference.
"We had a little shoddy defense there, a breakdown, giving them some extra outs and they took advantage,"
he said.
McGehee had committed just seven errors all season and was second in the league defensively for third basemen coming into the game.
"Those things are going to happen every once in a while,"
Joshua said.
McGehee was charged with a throwing error and an error for missing a throw on a rundown.
Iowa's Jeff Samardzija pitched six innings with nine strikeouts and left with the lead.
Iowa plays Friday at Principal Park against Nashville.
